Seattle

I visited Seattle, Washington for the first time to celebrate my 25th birthday with my boyfriend, Adam. The Emerald City had been on my list of places to visit for quite some time, so I was ecstatic when we got a killer deal on plane tickets (thank you, Hopper!). We rented an adorable Airbnb apartment in Bell Town, packed our warmest clothes and rain boots, and headed off!

The first evening we arrived, we headed to an amazing little neighborhood called Ballard (recommended by friends). Our first stop was The Noble Fir, a comfortable craft beer bar. My favorite part of traveling is chatting with the people that live in the area. If you want to go to the best bars and restaurants, ask your bartender. The staff was so warm and friendly and gave us great recommendations for places to hit in the neighborhood.

We spent the night eating, drinking, and just soaking in the city

The next day, with heads a little foggy from hot toddies and tiki drinks, we hit the tourist attractions. Of course, you can’t miss the Space Needle, but we really enjoyed the gem right next to it, the Chihuly Garden and Glass museum.

The Glasshouse at the end of the tour was absolutely breathtaking, pictures can not do it justice.

We trekked by foot over to the Seattle Central Library to take in the beautiful steel and glass building. I loved that all eleven stories were different shapes and illuminated by all the light let in, with pops of color from the neon yellow escalators and the red hallway.

That evening we had an amazing birthday dinner at Stateside, who serves delicious Vietnamese cuisine, and ended with cocktails at Canon, who holds the western hemisphere’s largest spirit collection.

Short, but so, so sweet. Seattle has now moved to my list of places to return. The city is beautiful, the people were friendly, and the food and drinks were delicious. What else do you really need in life?

Looks like you had a great time! I haven’t been to Seattle, so if I get a chance to visit, I’ll check out the library for sure!

I’ve been to a number of states but Washington has not been one of them. Seattle looks to be so interesting and I really enjoyed reading about your brief visit there. The glass museum just looks magic! I’m keen to visit and I’m sure you will also return again to discover more.
